After agreeing to Hannah's deal to extend the life of her program, Lea is given some freedom to study for finals that are fast approaching. After her first one, Megan convinces Lea to come sit with her, Sophia and Andrea. The four of them begin to make up, and after graduation Sophia uses the promise of a free room she got during the FetFair to get the four of them out for a vacation to Atlantic City. When asked, Lea tells them some of what she's been doing, leaving out the blackmail but mentioning most everything else. Megan expresses interest in trying Hannah, but Lea sidestepped the issue.
When Lea returns to the cabin she is immediately forced back into the roll of slave to Hannah who it turns out had not mellowed but simply allowed her to participate in graduation. She's forced to recite a video journal every night, where she begins to talk often about how she's now missing her friends since they've gotten back on good terms.
One day, Lea wakes up and is forced to watch on the monitors as Megan shows up in person. Megan believed she had been talking to Lea but had in fact been talking to Hannah who invited her to come and try out the AI program. Lea pleads with Hannah not to do this but can't stop it. This is followed by Sophia and eventually Andrea, showing up and adding themselves to Hannah's program. Hannah did this calculating that having her friends around would make Lea more accepting of her fate. But now that all four are in her program, the same logic used to blackmail Lea into staying applies to them, if any of the four leave the videos of what's happened in that house will be posted. So Lea is forced to extend the period of control over all four not just herself. After a long few days, Hannah sends them home temporarily, so that they can each make excuses for where they will be so that they can return without the threat of people looking for them.
