Part 22 Summary

Part 22 starts the morning after the new years party that took place in part 21, still in Surda. Spoilers below.

Sophia wakes Andrea and Zainab up rather abruptly and has more than a few angry words to say to them about the way they acted last night. She sets down a few rules. First, she must always have a cell phone and permission to use it in order to call if they are separated. She felt quite terrified when she got separated, and wants to insure that will never happen again. The second rule is that Andrea can not be in charge of Megan while drunk, her judgement had been terrible the night before and found it hard to tell that Megan was uncomfortable. Zainab and Andrea both agreed and apologized, mentioning that they probably should not have had the extra alcohol after having the drink with the spring flower in it. On the way back to the residence, Megan also confesses that while she didn't want to do anything the night before because of how public the setting was, doesn't mean she didn't want to do anything ever.

After they get back to the residence, Zainab shows them how simple it is in the future to transfer Sophia's contract between them, transfusing Sophia's contract to Megan as a demonstration. After a brief trip to the mall to get Sophia a phone and a few more clothes, they arrive back just in time to make it onto a large wooden Baghlah ship owned by Zainab's family that is about to set sail. The ship is heading to a natural cove that is a popular swimming location. On the way, Sophia talks more with Zainab's parents about her future. They have a room waiting for her, and have dealt with ICB lawyers to find many creative ways to fulfill her contract requirements without being too invasive. When she showers, it will be filmed and stored on a private server that the contract holder will have access to. She must then do one of two things, either perform domestic duties naked or fetishly dressed, or make a decision that will have sexual consequences for the contract holder like she did when she picked out a butt plug for Andrea.

Once the ship arrives, the girls change into bathing suits but Zainab chooses instead to go naked as some do when swimming publicly. On their way out however, the crew to tie Zainab up on Omid's orders. He says that because she took his boat without asking, that made her a boat thief which has always been considered a serious crime. So he walks her over to a plank that is outstretched from the deck of the ship and forces her to walk out without untying her. She doesn't look down to see, but there's actually a rather large inflated blob under the plank and several divers to help when she inevitably falls off. Andrea however doesn't notice and dives in after her also not noticing the inflated thing. Embarrassed, she gets Zainab in a inflatable boat and paddles the two of them away.

At the end of the day, Omid pulls Zainab over to apologize. As a kind of penance he offers her the ship for the night, even though it is already docked by this point. Sophia is offered a chance to call home and leaps at it. Zainab then takes Andrea and Megan downstairs to the lowermost deck, which they had closed off while the ship was out and public. Down there is a collection of artifacts and jewelry that would normally be on display when this ship is parked as a museum ship. At the far end are some remnants of when the ship had once been a slave ship, including hanging shackles. Andrea straps Megan into them shortly before two strange men walk in. They claim they are there to rob the ship, but don't want to pass up the opportunity before them. They lock Andrea and Zainab away and begin to entice Megan, wanting Megan to say yes rather than simply take what they want. Megan consents and the two have their way with her. When a change of position sits wrong with her, the men stop immediately and Andrea is there to take Megan's blindfold off. The men were not actually thieves, they are escorts who had also been promised a hansom bonus tip if they made sure to never cross Megan's comfort zones. And that unknown to Sophia, when she was made to pick two business cards at random it had selected these two, thus fulfilling her requirements to Megan her contract holder. Once Megan knew all that however, she asked if she could possibly be left alone while she finish out the time she had the two men for.
