The Baiae Resort is beginning a new program they call Exotic Reality. It involves hosting elaborate sets and settings, allowing the guest to act out a scenario. It doesn't have a script like a play, simply different parts and the guests are free to do as they want with the staff taking up the roles of the other people in the setting. Aaron, the staffing director, is in need of women and gives Sophia the chance to join in. He tells her that it needs to go well, and if she helped than he might try to get her moved over more permanently.

Sophia is given the role of a woman living in an frontier roman town. In the night, men dressed as barbarians in furs sneak into the city and one by one capture the woman. Sophia is taken by Anton after being traded to him for getting rough with the guest who originally took her. They are walked to another "set" where they made camp for the night. The next day, everyone goes off for a battle, using the same foam weapons Sophia had used before, and only some of the men come back.

When Sophia learned that being "stabbed" meant you were eliminated, she waited until she was alone to try to grab Anton's sword. She got it, but was still wearing a collar and chain that Anton had hold of and had fed over the supports of the tent. After repeated frustrations, Anton lifted Sophia up by her collar and leach, threatening to not give her anything to stand on until she threw down the sword. She eventually did, but the commotion had called in staff who got an alert from the system that Anton had broken the rules by hanging Sophia by the neck.

Sophia, worried about doing a good job, lied to cover him, saying it was important that he be allowed to stay. The guards agreed and left. Anton then asked her who had told her that he was a reviewer, assuming she knew. Sophia explained her situation, and promised to keep his occupation secret if he were to mention her favorably in his article, which he agreed to do. Later that night, Sophia was brought in front of everyone, just as a "raid" of Roman soldiers were descending. In the commotion, she grabbed a sword and began to help, catching Anton from behind. None of the guests survived, bringing an end to the whole affair.
