So for the second year in a row now I've been trying to write a story for halloween since it kind of has some mystical/dark elements to it, but second year in a row now I underestimate my time I'm able to commit and fall short of being able to deliver a story. Oh well.
So I just felt like sharing that, not a big deal. Back to the epilogues!
A short Halloween story, about five to ten pages would look good in this blog, I'd say, ma'am. Even if you were going to post it a week or two later. Like, you know, who cares? We all are adults here, no one is giving you a curfew. No one is giving you candy, either, I'm afraid. ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteI just came back and reread chapters 4, 5 and 6 recently, and I still love your writing as much as the first time, even though it's been dozens.
ReplyDeleteThese are some of the best written and thought out pieces of kink literature I've ever encountered, and it makes me sad to see them in decline.
I understand that life is hard, and the stresses of responsibilities weigh on us all, so that you aren't able to write as much, and perhaps struggling to find the inspiration.
Part of me wishes that your Blogspot was more well known so that you'd get the recognition you deserve for this wonderful universe you've created.
When I was younger and first exploring my interests, I found you over on Utopia Stories, and was immediately hooked. While most there were short bursts of smut with one-dimensional characters and clichés, your work stood out because it's exactly the opposite - it feels like it's taking place in it's own little world, with every detail from manufacturing and material sciences, to politics and technology, all planned and thought about with care and consideration. For this, I've been following you since around Chapter 3. I'm sorry I haven't commented more or made my appreciation up until now more known.
As always, I'd love to hear more of your stories, but I understand that these things take time to get into the right headspace. Don't feel you need to meet any deadlines or targets - we love your writing for the quality and creativity alone.
I look forward to whatever the future brings.
It meant a lot that you felt like sharing. I'm glad my writing still holds up.
DeleteI will also say, I actually had the *intention* of making the characters more cliches when I started. I wasn't setting out to make a big three dimensional world, I wanted some character archtypes so that as I went from one story to another I wouldn't have to re-introduce and re-describe the characters. I'm someone who has read a lot of armature bondage erotica, and I always found the introductions tedious bordering on repetitive.
But, maybe it's just the way I write, I don't know, there was a point where I felt they were getting more realistic if for no other reason than it's easier to describe what they are going through if they are actual real humans so you can predict a reaction.
I know this is kinda a late reply, but I wasn't sure how to respond at first. Maybe I have a bit of a hard time taking praise or something.
Either way, the reason I've been shifting focus towards these "Epologue" stories is to at least let people hear what I had planned even if I find writing all the details hard to get into the headspace of any more.
But my life has also changed again, by the end of the month I'm gonna be out of work again as the company I was working for has shut down. I don't share that to say there will be any certitude to updates, but as the business has been winding down to where it is now just shutting down, it's been giving my mind more room again. Granted in the intermediary time I've also picked up a new hobby of board games, even have had thoughts about possibly working on my own, so I don't knjow where I'll be spending my time.
But I know I still *want* to get a bit more out there. I gave the first "path" the characters were originally going to take, I've been working on the "and then what" of after they all get reunited. After that I'll try offering the modified ending I had been working on, plus maybe a quick bit of some of the failed paths I'd thought I would go down at earlier parts in the project. After that, the final piece of the epilogue which explains why these dreams are coming up at all.
I probably will put a lot of this in a new post soonish but wanted to reply to this comment first since it's been bugging me that I hadn't already.
Would you believe I've sat down to write a reply four times already, and every time been pulled away? Sorry to keep you waiting!
DeleteYou're welcome, I was merely being honest and vocal, after not being so for so long.
I'm glad you didn't make them all flat characters, it's definitely blossomed into something amazing. For the more generic erotica story, I occasionally jump a couple of paragraphs at the beginning to skip reintroductions if I'm not feeling it. With characters as you've done though, you definitely have more freedom in your established world and personalities to write better from the get-go, and that's something I love.
Perhaps you do struggle, but it's well deserved praise all the same.
As much as I wish you were producing the full stories, I completely understand your decision for the epilogue writing. For a sprawling universe like this, you're left with a million dangling threads to tie up, and minimal steam to work with. Whatever you produce, it's brilliant.
I'm sorry to hear about your employment trouble, I hope you're financially supported enough for now to keep yourself afloat. While you are now presented with more time to write, don't feel you have to - I'm sure there are a million other things on your mind as well.
As another person fond of board games, I completely understand that it can eat up way more of your time than you're expected - a friend of mine has a collection of rare ones, and time there can just fly by. You just sit down and get everything ready, and before you know it you've been there for five hours and need to be heading off. We (read: he) discovered one called Cosmic Encounter that's relatively short and sharp. It's not like we usually play (his collection focuses mostly on the whole Cthulhu thing. I haven't the faintest idea about any of it.) but it's surprisingly very enjoyable, especially if you're already a couple of drinks in. I'd definitely love to hear about it if you produced anything! (perhaps hints of Made At Order production could be hidden in there? ;) )
I'm glad your endings are fanning out so we can follow several different paths. As someone that's always liked the Lea/Andrea dynamic the most, I loved the bit about her calling at the end of the last chapter. Having said that, I've read it all cover-to-cover several times, and it's all pretty good; even some of the darker stuff I don't normally go for I enjoyed.
Having said that I've read this blog from cover-to-cover, I'd like to offer my services should you ever feel like writing, and that you might need an opinion. You once mentioned needing some technical knowledge. I'm an Apprentice mechanical/electrical engineer (with a background in Land Surveying. My gap-year turned into a gap-career.) with a special fascination for 3D printing and CNC work especially. I own my own Prusa I3MK3 that's pretty nifty (and I may or may not have used it for a couple of naughtier projects in the past.) I'm pretty good with CAD too, in case you ever needed anything done. Mostly mechanical designs though - human curves are a dark art I've yet to master.
It's unlikely you'll need it, but I'm always there if you ever do!
I look forward to hearing from you, and whatever the future holds! :)
I was thinking about this again; I think it would be brilliant to have somewhere we could follow you, like a Twitter account, DeviantArt page or a Fetlife group to join that you could post your thoughts on things; both kink related and otherwise. With your writing at your back, you'd immediately head to the forefront of the community.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped as much, but a quick Googlesearch unfortunately doesn't find one. I know I'd definitely be the first to join.
I suppose partly my thoughts are that you're not getting the recognition that you deserve, and I think that's a huge shame. Your writing is brilliant, and nowhere near appreciated enough.
Hey Jess, I hope 2020 has found you in a healthy environment, and life is working for you, not the other way around. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love coming back and re-reading your previous stories. They still get me every time.
If I had a favorite scene (So hard to choose, so many good ones), I'd probably say it was when Hannah instructed the girls to set themselves up on the porch in part 8. That heavy level of non-con, yet total submission was terrifyingly sweet. It was insane the range of development you gave each character when the videos were released and how each one had to cope with the new life they had to embrace.
I just wanted you to know at the very least, you still have this fan who appreciates the adventure you have here on this blog. ^_^ And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
While my posts come rarely and often spontaneous, it's nice to just check up, see what's new, and let you know how much we fans appreciate all you've done here. I don't see myself wandering away anytime soon.
All the best well wishes and good vibes Jess! Hope you are having a blast. ^_^
i love your stories ! take your time :)
